The Minister of Digital Transformation and Administrative Modernization, Mr. Ahmed Salem Bede Etvagha, participated yesterday, Sunday, alongside several other ministers, in the ceremony launching the national road traffic management campaign in Nouakchott.
The project consists of several components, including a digital aspect implemented by the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Administrative Modernization. The Ministry has established a digital platform that will interconnect all involved parties, including the Departments of Interior and Security, Equipment and Transport, Finance, as well as citizens, vehicle owners, and other concerned stakeholders. This will ensure the accuracy and speed of information access, simplifying and accelerating procedures, which will positively impact the performance levels of these sectors. It will bring services closer to the citizens.
The development of the digital platform is complete. The Ministry is currently training execution teams from the security, administration, and finance sectors on how to use the platform.
In his speech delivered on this occasion, Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Ould Mohamed Lemine, Minister of Interior, Decentralization Promotion, and Local Development, indicated that this campaign is part of the implementation of the recommendations of the interministerial committee responsible for the Nouakchott Mobility Project 2026. This project was launched by His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani, on the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of national independence, to overcome transportation issues in the country in general, and in Nouakchott in particular.
The Minister added that the interministerial committee recently held a series of meetings, chaired by Prime Minister Mr. Mokhtar Ould Diay, and made recommendations requiring the launch of this campaign.
The first phase of the project covers the districts of Tevragh Zeina and Ksar, as well as roadways in Nouakchott facing traffic congestion. It will later be expanded to progressively cover the rest of the country. The project launch is supported by an awareness and mobilization campaign across various media, with the participation of ministerial departments, cultural and artistic actors, media professionals, and civil society organizations.
